Like a mighty morphing power granger, my quiet little blog site has transformed itself and is now called a Posterous Space.  Instead of "dear diary", we are now able to shovel the sheets of paper and canvas into a handy storage facility commonly called a garage. (Truly, do you use your garage for stashing your vehicle or is it filled with other useful possessions?  Actually, my nice attached garage is totally organized and neat, sheltering our darling Hyundai Accent and Jim's John Deere mower.  I'll admit, there is a bit of rubble in there, too, consisting of an unused woodpile, a shop vac, various yard tools and more of my art stacked against the wall).

This is the first Fall in our new state that has really looked like autumn.  The temperature continues to drop as the sun sinks earlier into the western sky, and I am amazed at the variety of colors the local flora generate.  A tree down the street astounds me daily with its party colored splendor:  red on top with gold, peach, yellow and green in profusion.  Another made us both gasp as we drove past, its crimson leaves astonishing in their intensity.

My plan is to begin posting some of my newer art works here, along with some older favorites seen only on Elfwood or my Facebook page.  As my own personal autumn moves closer to winter, I feel the need to share my creations with someone besides my darling husband.

    Please stay tuned.

I am overwhelmed with nothing to say.  I shall make this a prayer:  please, God, enable the cogs of commerce to approve and fund Michael's loan so that the escrow on my mother's house can close.  It's approaching a full month since it was due to finalize; please facilitate this event so we can move on.  Grant Michael and Jennifer the loan they need, and grant Jim & Vicki the peace of mind they sorely need.  Amen.

Blogging is such a nifty innovation.  I haven't a clue how to do it via email.  Will this work?

My first post here, appropriately enough, is a rant against technology, specifically computers and IT.  Information is an understatement.  Google on anything you choose, and you receive more options than you could possibly view.  Try to find an answer to a specific problem, however, and you might as well be searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack.

DSL is a recent addition to my tech woes.  We signed up for it so that we might listen to Pandora whenever we choose.  I also like to check out the bands at MySpace and the music videos at YouTube.  After adding a router to my set up, everything has gone down hill.  I can't get help from D-Link or Copper.net, at least nothing that seems to work.  The router is over 30 days old now, so I can't return it to Fry's.

My complaint with computers as a species is this:  there is too damn much that can go wrong with them.  The complexities rival the challenge of understanding the human brain.  All I need is a solution to an HTTP error (22002 or something like that, when I do an XP diagnostic) which is causing both browsers to time out.  Why do these things keep happening to me?  There are other souls out there with the same problem and other resolutions that don't seem to work for my Dell.

I am truly sorry that I invested my hard earned dollars in all this crap.

    End of rant!  Happy Sunday.

  • About

Grimalkin is retired after serving time (30+ years) in the banking industry. She currently lives in the Idaho Panhandle with her husband, Jim. They fulfilled their dream of retreating to higher ground away from Southern California and its crowds, traffic and drought, in June, 2009. Unfortunately, their darling companion, Boris the Wonder Turtle, only spent one week in the new 5 acre paradise. He escaped his patio enclosure and is living as a wild thing, hopefully spreading his superior genes among the Idaho red eared slider population. He is missed beyond belief.

Grimalkin spends a good deal of her spare time drawing, painting, exercising, listening to music, reading, and watching the butterflies in her magnificent garden.
